Projektbeschreibung
2016 jährt sich das Anwerbeabkommen zwischen Österreich und der Sozialistischen Föderativen Republik Jugoslawien (SFRJ) zum 50. Mal. Tausende jugoslawische Gastarbeiter_innen kamen für ursprünglich begrenzte Zeit nach Österreich. Sie kamen und blieben. Die neu gegründete Platforma (Platform für temporäre Kreation) nimmt das Jubiläum zum Anlass, um die Geschichte und die politischen Kämpfe der Gastarbeit in den Fokus zu rücken und sichtbar zu machen.
Der Lange Weg der Gastarbajt führt von einer ehemaligen Fabrik (heute ein Kulturraum) über einen Arbeiter_innenverein zu lokalen legendären Gastarbeiter_innen, Freizeit-Orten und Bars, die alle zentrale Punkte von Kollektivität und Zusammenhalt sind. So beleuchten wir Beziehungen zwischen der lokalen Bevölkerung und den Menschen, die nach Österreich gekommen sind und mit dem Label „Gastarbeiter_innen“ versehen wurden oder werden. An allen Stationen wird ein Mikroprogramm stattfinden mit Ausstellungen, Vorträgen, Lesungen, Filmen, Performance, Musik und Tanz. Geschichten von Gastarbeiter_innen und Dauergästen werden erzählt. Der Lange Weg der Gastarbajt führt vor Ort Biographien und Fragmente zusammen: Prekaritätserfahrungen und eine kollektive Geschichtsschreibung, die sonst oft ausgeklammert werden.

HOR ’29 Novembar’
Children playgrounds are also unofficial places of direct social interaction and are often overlooked as such. The Viennese Choir HOR ’29 Novembar’ will provide us with a short musical break in the mentioned playground, bringing up songs of Gasterbajters and commemorating the significance of play in the context of cultural and other exchange.

A 15 minutes open-air performance by this performance artist and Vienna-newcomer will activate the audiences in a unique flash-mob setting.

Film Screenings: Gasterbajter goes to movies!
Brunnenpassage is also a place of fervent cultural and social activity with a specific goal – to bring different people together. During the “Langer Weg der Gastarbajt”, they will host a screening of short movies dealing with the Gasterbajter topic in different historical and social settings, bringing out extraordinary films selected and presented by Ljubomir Bratić.

Considering the dense repertoire of AU and its dedication to the musical and other exchange between individual and collectives from Vienna and post-Yugoslav spaces, the choice of this Club as the final spot of the Langer Weg der Gastarbajt is pretty obvious. Two bands (Live: Soda & Gomorra / NOW + DJ set: Arsyugoslavia) differently related to the Gasterbajter history and actuality will definitely wrap up the program in the most appropriate way!
